Our beautiful studio is located on Bridge Street, Melvern Square, Nova Scotia in the Annapolis Valley. Fully equipped with 3 full size dance studios, full length walled mirrors, ballet barres, wooden sprung floor, change rooms and a spacious and inviting waiting area.
For more than ten years, our school has been a leader in dance education. Our reputation for inspiring young people to be the best dancers they can be is one of the primary reasons for our success. We believe a teacher's influence on the future of a student extends far beyond the obvious physical benefits. The faculty at DDC is committed to motivate and challenge every student, whether at the recreational or competitive level.
Our teaching philosophy is based on instilling passion for dance while nurturing creativity. We believe that an education in dance benefits the body, mind and soul. In addition, we strive to develop confidence, self-esteem and self-discipline. We encourage teamwork and teach life skills that will help them succeed in other aspects of their lives. Students are learning what hard work and determination can accomplish.
We pledge to give you the finest dance instruction available and are committed to making each dance lesson a positive one. Our dedicated and experienced teachers look forward to sharing their passion for dance with your children, the next generation of aspiring young dancers.
Join us at DansXpress Dance Center and enter the world of dance. COME DANCE WITH US...COME GROW WITH US!
Dear Dance Families:
It has been an amazing 18 years that I have been teaching in the Annapolis Valley. Our school has grown tremendously since its inception and transition from the Greenwood Jazz Dancers back in 1993. I have been very fortunate to have such loving support of both family and friends to help pursue my dream of owning and running my own dance school and you are all to thank for the success, talent and growth.
I am, however moving on to a new chapter in my life beginning in September of 2010, but it is not a chapter that doesn't include DansXpress Dance Center. Many of you have been told we are moving our studio to Berwick..this is not true. Many of you have been told we are moving our studio to Bridgetown. This is not true, however we have partnered with Premiere Fitness in Bridgetown where we will be offering classes on Tuesdays and Saturdays for the 2010-2011 dance season. Many of you have also been hearing that I am selling the school and not teaching at all. This is not true.
I have decided to go back to school to persue my studies in Child Psychology and to specialize in Addiction Services in hopes to help children who are suffering with a family member who is or has been affected by alcohol/drug addiction, or the loss of someone because of this very serious disease. This new avenue is very near and dear to me and my family, and is one that I believe is a very important road to travel.
This doesn't mean I am walking away from such an amazing and talented dance school, its staff or its students. We have built an incredible reputation of dancers and dance instruction and I am not ready to walk away. It does mean, however that I have had to take measures in hiring an amazing new staff for the fall who will be responsible for the recreational classes which we offer Monday to Friday in all dance styles and levels. This change means that there will be more available classes and new and exciting programs and opportunities for our students because there will be more on staff to do such a job.
It is important to me that my new staff carry on and continue to learn each and every day to be the best dance teachers they can be and at the same time continue on with what DansXpress Dance Center has become. New procedures are already set in motion to ensure great communications skills between the studio, its students and our parents and most importantly, we will be looking into our class sizes to ensure a good balance between student and teacher ratios.
With that being said, I know the fall is going to be new and exciting for everyone. We are currently working on our schedule for both Melvern Square and Bridgetown studios and our registration dates have been set for the fall. I will still be around the studio at times during the week, may possibly be teaching a few classes here and there (recreationally) and have moved all of my competitive dance program classes to Saturdays where I will be primarily focused on.
The teachers will continue to learn and will be taught by me on a weekly basis in our own S.T.E.P. class (Student Teacher Education Program) and/or will be continuing their studies for their professional teacher certifications.
It is my promise to you that DansXpress Dance Center continues as it has and that your children learn and grow in the art of dance. If I feel that it is my time to retire completely, I will do so in a manner directly from you to me. For now, I am not retiring, I am not selling the school and I am not moving our classes out of our newly renovated studio which we have grown to love and call home. We will only be getting bigger and better and can't wait for this new year to begin!
